Quality 4.0 seminar

On May 30, 2023, an international seminar on quality 4.0 was held at Cracow University of Economics, Poland. The seminar was attended by representatives of business, public administration and science from Czechia, Poland and Slovakia, who shared their experiences regarding modern approaches to quality management in the era of industry 4.0. The meeting was an opportunity to establish contacts, exchange ideas and start new forms of cooperation between business and science. Recordings of the presentations are available on the project page.

Quality 4.0 has emerged as a critical aspect of modern industry. Quality 4.0 refers to applying Industry 4.0 technologies, such as the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), and big data, to improve the quality of products and services. This includes using sensors and data analytics to monitor production processes in real-time, identify defects and improve efficiency. The goal of Quality 4.0 is to achieve higher levels of product quality, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency through the use of advanced technologies. At the same time, during implementing new approaches, the role of employees in achieving high quality cannot be lost. Quality 4.0 can be applied in various industries, including manufacturing, healthcare, and service.

Teaching Quality 4.0 is important for several reasons: growing industry demand for employees with Q4.0 skills, competitive advantage over other graduate students, growth of careers, adaptation to fast economic changes and increasing speed of continuous improvement. Cooperation between universities and enterprises can be beneficial in teaching Quality 4.0. It can provide students with real-world experience, industry connections, and opportunities for research and development while also helping to advance state of the art in Quality 4.0 technologies and practices. Cooperation between universities and enterprises can be critical in teaching Quality 4.0.

The seminar is held under the patronage of the Rector of CUE, prof. dr hab. Stanislaw Mazur. The media patronage was taken by the journals: Problemy Jakości (Poland) and Perspektivy kvality (Czechia).

The seminar is part of a project called "Improving quality management teaching in the era of Industry 4.0" implemented by the Cracow University of Economics, the Technical University of Košice and the Tomas Bata University in Zlín. The project is co-financed by the Governments of Czechia, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia through Visegrad Grants from International Visegrad Fund. The mission of the fund is to advance ideas for sustainable regional cooperation in Central Europe.
